Search and discovery on YouTube - Search for

As with Google's search engine, a search on YouTube will try to show the most relevant results based on a keyword query. Videos are ranked based on many factors, including how well the title, description and video content match the audience query. In addition, we look for videos that most drive interactions to query. Search results are not a list of videos that are watched the most for a particular query.

Tips:

Search for words that people commonly use to find your channel in Traffic Sources in YouTube Analytics. Try entering the most relevant search terms for each new video. You can add it as a title and description - as long as it's accurate (and not excessive).
Write a good description of 1-2 paragraph lengths, if relevant.
Try using the YouTube Translate feature to reach an international audience.
Think about new video ideas by looking at search results for popular and not-too-competitive queries. Identify opportunities to serve unserved audiences.
Remember to always check the 'Trending' tab to find topics that interest you or that might be specific to your specific audience.
Myths
MYTH: The title and description of my video are optimal. But why isn't the ranking higher?
