Pyra Labs

Pyra Labs is a company that issued the title Blogger, and made this service a huge success.

Its founders are Evan Williams and Meg Hourihan, and the company's first product, also called 'Pyra', is a web application that can combine project management, contacts and task lists. In 1999, still in the testing phase, Pyra was changed to a tool called Blogger. This service was distributed in August 1999. Most of it was done by Paul Bausch and Matthew Haughey.

In 2002, Blogger was completely remade to offer it to other companies, the first being Globo from Brazil.

The company was taken over by Google in 2003. Pyra Labs employees at the time of the takeover were Evan Williams, Jason Shellen, Steve Jenson, Jason Sutter, Jason Goldman and Rudy Winnacker.

In 2004, Evan left Google. In 2006, Jason Goldman left Google. Evan later formed Obvious Corp. Meg is associated with Kinja and other sites.
